Is WHO’s response the subject of controversy?

     I don’t know from where should I start? I am feeling that nowadays government bodies have started to play with human's health. Even we also don’t know anything so we adapt a method to be part of the rat race. Our health consultants, organization etc. follows this trend. For instance, World Health Organization (WHO) claims that Remdesivir is a more effective drug to treat the patient with Covid-19. Due to this number of countries across the world have taken manufacturing and purchase approval from US-FDA. 

    Initially, Remdesivir was given to Donald Trump (President of US) when he had infected with Covid-19 and a recovery report came desirable. From that point, the number of pharmaceutical companies starts to manufacture Remdesivir and supplies a wide number of countries around the globe which already have taken approval of purchasing. A rapid outbreak of SARS-COV-19 in the public has increased demand for Remdesivir which uplift the economical scale. Such a situation is creating in India especially where the number of patients is too high and existing medical facilities are not enough. Secondly, prices of this drug are higher and people start to sell this medicine like wine in black. Everywhere side either hospitals or covid-19 care centres, people are looking for the Remdesivir and eager to pay any cost so that they can save their loved one’s. 

    In India, most of the death ware took place due to the insufficiency of medical accessories like beds, ventilators, medicines and oxygen cylinders. SARS-COV1-9 virus is directly affected one’s lung and reduces breathing capacity that’s why oxygen level drops out in them. Currently, the situation has become like this, all hospitals across India is trying to provide Remdesivir and other medical facilities to the patient as much as possible. But there is a major drawback is that medical professionals and other staff do not check that is patient really need Remdesivir or oxygen cylinder or they can treat by isolation? Most of the hospitals' have failed to treat covid-19 patients caused by the insufficient workforce and medical staff. Thus, the situation is going to be worst. 

    But now there is one of the most shocking news that WHO said that “Remdesivir has little or no effect on survival”. What is this? Priorly WHO claims that Remdesivir is an effective medicine to treat covid-19 but now it turned the statement and said that it is not effective. The number of companies that have purchased this medicine on hike price and sells them around India to get the desired result. Is there any joke-cracking function going on? It’s about people’s lives and their family’s life who are spending their all bread and butter to get the medicine so that they can save their loved one’s. Now, WHO said that it is not effective? 

    WHO stated that their professionals took solidarity clinical trial over the four potential medicines i.e. redeliver, an Ebola drug, Malaria drug hydroxychloroquine and HIV drug combination of lopinavir and ritonavir. The clinical trials of these four drugs were tested on around 11,266 adult patients, around 500 hospitals in more than 500 different countries. The chief scientist of WHO Soumya Swaminathan said that their lopinavir/ritonavir was stopped in June 2019 because it was proven ineffective. 

    While Gilead stated that Remdesivir is also not effective after studying 1-year of data. On the behalf of Gilead statement, WHO announced that Remdesivir is not imperative to treat patient with Covid-19. Now the question that arises in my mind is that? What did mean by the previous statement when WHO claimed that Remdesivir is effective when clinical trial did not take place. 

    In the past few decades, WHO has become one of the trustable organizations. During this pandemic number of companies and health departments have started to believe in all claims and statement of WHO. But in return, we are not getting the optimum result of this trust from WHO. As we know very well, now another drug recommendation will be given by the WHO then again people will be eager to buy that medicine at any cost. Again, the number of people will die while hospitals specialists and news channels will publish headline that due to insufficient of ----- drug, people’s mortality rate is increasing. So, I realized that WHO’s response is becoming the subject of controversy.



       I request everyone be alert and take effective action to stop such false scams. I don’t know what should I speak about the topic which I choose to write about. But one thing I will say these all activities creates negativity and breaking trust in health regularities. There are several recommendations from my side to all "before getting hospitalized it is important to take overall tests, or if the oxygen level is coming above 94 then there is no mean to admit to the hospital. It can treat by home quarantine. In other cases, if the oxygen level is below 93-92 then prefer to admit into the hospital for taking treatment.

Extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO )  is a cardiopulmonary support machine. It is quite similar to the heart-lung by-pass machine that is used in open-heart surgery.
