Impact of Covid-19 on individual’s mental health
Covid-19 was considered a global pandemic by the
WHO (World Health Organization) on 11th March 2020. So, government across the world has executed lockdown, social distancing, and
self-quarantine, which was highly important to reduce the spread of covid-19 and keep us safe and isolated. As the coronavirus pandemic rapidly
sweeps around the world, it is promoting a considerable degree of worry, fear
and concern in the public at wide and among certain groups in particular i.e. older
adults, care providers and people with the underlying health condition. Thus, this act creates feelings of loneliness and
anxiety. Apart from this, the covid-19 pandemic and the resulting economic
recession have negatively affected the number of people’s mental health and developed
new barriers for the people who already suffer from mental illness. In this pandemic,
about 4 out of 10 adults in each country have reported anxiety or
depression disorder symptoms. This data has disclosed by WHO through which we can
estimate the situation of people. The covid-19 crisis has tripled the prevalence of
depression in people across the world.
According to WHO, there is an economic
crisis, lack access of to favourite activities and social isolation, are the major
reason for depression and anxiety in people. As I observed, social media has
become one of the major reason to alleviate stress level in people because there are several news channels, in which highlights the news like "50 people died due to corona & 5000 new Covid positive cases found" Such news creates
negativity in people and the quarantine period makes them feel that life can end
up at any moment. I am not saying that updating people about the corona is bad but
such framed line can create horripilation. So, it is essential to highlight the news in a manipulative
manner like "30% of people are recovered through the covid-19 medication or 50 people are found covid +ve in which 30 people has recovered or on the process". Such type of news
creates positivity in people and declines stress level. Apart from this, I observed that many people across the globe who are in-home quarantine or they have locked themselves
in the home while thinking that if they step out, it means they may lose their life. I request everyone to understand lockdown execution lockdown or home quarantine does not mean to live alone
or feel frustrated and depressed. Whatever guidelines are
implementing from country to country, these are safety precautions and an initiative to break the chain
of the virus. So that, a large population can save as much as possible and get the success
rate of lockdown protocols. Once we conquer this pandemic then again, we can step out freely anywhere.
But don't panic! there are lots of things which can be done by us in this pandemic like do not leave alone or not feel alone, just talk to the favourite person, group, family members who make us feel good and get positive vibes. Raise time for ourselves and do some creativity which brings positivity in us and reduces our stress level. There are several therapies like cognitive behavioural therapy, interpersonal therapy and psychodynamic therapy which are considered one of the best therapies among others to treat depression. Mindful exercises are also a great option to deal with stress level. In this situation, I would like to share my personal thought such as I am unable to get it that why people are saying, this outbreak is leading to negativity in them. According to my perception, we must create a skill to deal with such situation, instead of thinking that the number of cases is damn high, we should take initiative to help others and talk to others about this topic like what type of help we can provide others who are actually facing this issue. It will ultimately drag our mind in the positive sense and helps us to deal with our stress. So, everyone must follow a quota 👇👇
"To help others in term of financial support, daily commodities support, to help people to find hospital accessories (oxygen cylinder, availability of bed ventilators etc.) or medicines, social support like give sympathy to people that everything will be good, starts some creativity which helps those who unable to deal with stress instead of thinking that what results will get".
Stay Far, Stay Safe but don’t forget
to live your life and helps others as much as you can while maintaining social
distancing protocol.
Jai Hind! Jai Bharat!😊😊😊
